Last year, full of uncertainty and distruptions, brought TMR Plastics a\u00a0number of transfer projects. What\u2019s more, the company expects such processes to\u00a0support the dynamic growth of TMR\u2019s business. So what are transfers?<\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cTransfer is a\u00a0transition of an ongoing project, i.e. existing injection moulds, to\u00a0TMR. The company\u2019s team receives an existing solution, which is not yet in the implementation phase, but at the stage of serial production. This is very important, because in the case of transfers, there is no time for long implementations and complicated tests. The client wants the project to\u00a0continue, the new supplier to\u00a0make the necessary optimizations and bring the project to\u00a0market without delay,\u201d comments\u00a0Georgi Giochev, CEO TMR Plastics.<\/strong><\/p>

Not surprisingly, in the case of these types of processes, it is crucial to\u00a0have qualified, experienced employees who will know what actions to\u00a0take before and after the transfer.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

\u201eThis type of team is managed by\u00a0a\u00a0coordinator who is in charge of the whole process. The R&D department, on the other hand, checks that the particular mould being transferred can be operated by\u00a0our plant. We\u00a0cannot assume in advance that every type of mould will be suitable for the injection moulding machines used by\u00a0TMR. So we\u00a0need to\u00a0assess whether a\u00a0particular mould has any defects, or what risks may arise. It is therefore necessary to\u00a0perform a\u00a0full technical analysis. Certainty counts, because there is no room for surprises here,\u201d adds\u00a0Georgi Giochev.<\/strong><\/p>

Interestingly, until the moulds arrive at TMR, the company\u2019s team relies only on the data given to\u00a0them to\u00a0visualise the whole process. The purchasing department, in turn, is responsible for securing the project by\u00a0ordering the right raw materials and other components that are needed for production.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

\u201eCurrently, because of the pandemic, there has been quite a\u00a0clear problem with the availability of raw materials. So when we\u00a0receive information from a\u00a0customer that a\u00a0transfer is to\u00a0take place, it is the purchasing department\u2019s aim to\u00a0make sure the plastics are in place. Efficiency is crucial, because when the moulds are delivered, everything has to\u00a0be in place and the raw materials or metal parts for the overmoulding have to\u00a0be ready,\u201d explains\u00a0Izabela Liniewska-Maza, Key Account Manager.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

What are the reasons for transfers?<\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Customers often point to\u00a0logistical issues. They may find it difficult to\u00a0communicate or work with their existing supplier. It may also be a\u00a0question of the business approach of the current vendor. TMR Plastics returns the favor with a\u00a0comprehensive and professional approach.<\/p>

This American company had worked with TMR before, which allowed to\u00a0build trust and translated into the decision to\u00a0transfer a\u00a0large-scale project. What\u2019s important, its parts are very complex \u2013 there are snaps, seals and overmoulds. One finished part consists of 15-20 components. Unfortunately, its previous supplier was quite haphazard and lacked documentation. This, in turn, forced TMR Plastics to\u00a0take each piece apart and prepare the appropriate documentation. TMR didn\u2019t have much time to\u00a0get to\u00a0grips with it all, as the customer required deliveries, so the company\u2019s team had to\u00a0implement the new transfer quickly. The project was a\u00a0success and the client rewarded TMR with a\u00a0statuette for the smooth transfer at an official award ceremony at a\u00a0conference in Brno. The project value for TMR Plastics was \u20ac3 million.<\/p>

The world\u2019s leader in the lighting\u00a0sector<\/strong><\/p>

This was another large-scale project in TMR\u2019s portfolio. In this case a\u00a0big difficulty was the availability of raw material, which was all the more challenging as demand for the parts involved was extremely high. The transfer was due to\u00a0take place in November, a\u00a0period when the pandemic was hitting the plastics market hard. The entire transfer procedure was carried forward in time. TMR transferred all the moulds gradually so that the whole process was protected from a\u00a0potential fiasco. The project ended with a\u00a0very positive reception on the client\u2019s side, everything went very smoothly (considering the market context). All critical factors were secured.<\/p>
